Pompeii

A 30-minute taxi ride took us from Naples to our hotel in Pompeii, right next to one of the quieter entrances to the site. In five hours I guess we managed to see about half of the area. It was impressive and unique in our experience to see the remains of an entire ancient city fairly well preserved and presented. The site was greatly enhanced by a series of recently installed sculptures by the late Polish artist Miitoraj.

Gigantic lemons, a variety known as "citrus medica"

And I mean gigantic.
Too much to cover in one day.
