NAPLES

Street entertainer
In accordance with our practice, we hit the ground running. After the flights from NY to Munich and on to Naples we checked into our hotel and walked around for two hours, eventually ending up on the seaside promenade from which Mount Vesuvius can be seen over the water in the distance. That's the volcano which buried nearby Pompeii in 79AD. The next morning, five hours exploring more streets in another section, capped by a frustrating search for the best pizzeria (which turned out to be closed on Monday.)
Not a typical hotel entrance. But, on the top floor, the very nice And well-located Hotel Ciliegina.

marina, Vesuvius in back.

Typical waterfront tourist restaurant

Pasta e fagioli, a typical dish with three types of pasta and beans.

Classic street scene.

  1. Great pics! The G4 is known for its quality camera.

Bummer about the pizzeria, but, I assume there most be other decent pizza joints, around? This is Naples, after all...
