The post about San Pietro Island was written after arriving in Alghero and after 2 days of intense activity: (that may explain its disorganization.)
1. Leaving San Pietro island on the 9AM ferry (fortuitously caught when we arrived early for the 9:30 AM, thanks in part to driving down a narrow street the wrong way - but it led us directly to the boarding ferry. (We had purchased our tickets two days before.)
2. Driving to Buramini to take a guided tour of the Nuraxi ruins of the early Nuraghic civilization (found in about 8000 locations in Sardinia, not yet fully understood. This is a UNESCO site, relatively well-excavated)
3. Driving to San Giovanni di Sinnis to see the ruins of Tharros, an ancient Phoenician town (and climb the Spanish Tower and hike beyond into the mosquito-infested peninsula). The mosquitos got me through my shirt. Stayed overnight at the Hotel Perdrera.
4. On the next day we drove to a hilltop town named Cuglieri and, with the help of some elderly residents, found the stairway to the cathedral and its sensational hilltop panorama.
5. We drove to the town of Bosa, walked around and had lunch at the nearby Bosa Marina area.
6. Then we drove to Alghero.
A separate post will be devoted to 4, 5 and 6.
All driving was by Emma, mostly on curvy, fabulously scenic roads running near or along the sea.

That 8,000 Nuraghic sites figure boggles the mind.
