Architectural Singaporn

The term refers to excessive architectural stimuli such as the three towers of the 2,500-room Marina Bay Sands Hotel shown below from a distance.

For 20 Singapore dollars (figure 75% 0f that to get US$) you can go up to what they call SkyPark, the rooftop structure on top which includes viewing areas, a bar, restaurant and a 150-meter long swimming pool (for guests only.)

The lobby is an inhuman space with the feeling of an airport terminal combined with a Las Vegas Mall. Name-brand shops abound.

A model of the whole development is on display. The lower structures are shopping areas. The petalled structure is a museum. By the way, the architect was Moshe Safdie, famous in the earlier part of his career for humanistic work such as apartment buildings known as Habitat. Now obviously he has sold out to the "military/industrial" complex.

On top of the hotel you can have a drink at the bar for a rather high price.
(Translates to about US$45 for two Singapore Slings)

The best part was a good view of the Gardens By The Bay complex with Zaha Hadid's Supertrees on the right and the two enclosed botanical gardens on the left.
And a view of the financial center of Singapore on the other side.
