Saigon - More Cham Sculpture

The Vietnam History Museum on Nguyen Binh Kiem Street in Saigon has a fine collection of Cham Sculpure, something we consider a special treat. This one had some nice lingam/yoni combinations, units that were noticeably missing from the Cham Museum in Danang. Cards indicated that about 10 of the pieces were on loan to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. I post some images below without comment except to ask if you can imagine a Western religion which would put the image of a god on a penis form?" Another proof of the relative maturity of Hinduism. [The figure in a sort of yoga posture is about five inches high.]

  2. The seat of sex in some Eastern religions is considered the life force and I think that is why it is featured prominently in paintings and statues
    occurring between the gods and their consorts.
