Gecko Shed Skin

I am giving the photo of the shed gecko skin a post by itself because of its rarity. I know it's relatively unusual because I found nothing quite as good on Google Images. Just before we returned from Kapiti Island, the nature guide who had introduced us to the flora, fauna and rules of the island in the morning showed Emma and me what she had just found.

Well, while I'm here, with some time on my hands and relaxation beginning to settle in (settled in lovely Queenstown in a perfect room at the QT Queenstown, lunch at a fish restaurant in town, walk back and forth along the lake, Emma napping with decongestant) I might as well add to the gecko.

Here's the room where the gecko skin was shown to us. In the back are illustrations of the flora and fauna to be found on Kapiti Island.

(mirror image  because my LG4 can't normalize selfies)
After our walk I used the wall benches of that room for a nap - a very pleasant experience with only the sound of bird calls.

Getting to and from Kapiti Island was an interesting experience. In the absence of a dock a special tractor takes the boat into and out of the water.
At the island the boat goes straight into the pebble shore and extends a ramp for the passengers to disembark without getting wet.
