Some Highlights

Here's some of the highlights so far. There may be some repetition.

Wild Dogs. Not seen very often. Vicious pack hunters.

Wildebeest On The Run

Carmine Bee Eater - Responsible for one of our most beautiful episodes. Numerous carmine bee-eaters, attracted by the insects raised from the road by our vehicle, provided us with a spectacular escort. It can't really be captured by photo from a moving vehicle, at least not by me, but it was an amazing experience.

They flew alongside on both sides.

This stork, called the "umbrella bird" creates shade with its wings to better attract the small water creatures on which it feeds.

A weaver fledgling

Goliath Heron

Impalas fighting

Female bush pilot

Hyenas with pup - unusually close proximity

Sometimes the Serengetti looks like it goes on forever.

Breakfast on the tailgate is a real treat at about 9:30 AM after 3 hours on the road. 6 AM wakeup with coffee and cookie starts the day

Colobus monkeys in Arusha National Park at start of trip provided superb sartorial and acrobatic show

Red headed lizard - I forget the name - about one foot long

Two rear ends

Baby elephant

Baobab trees were fascinating. I will look for  book about them.

Orb spider egg cases.

Amazingly, a copy of our 1999 Mercedes E320 was in the otherwise undistinguished ollection of the National Museum of Tanzania in Dar Es Salaam

The noisy mating of the Giant Tortoise on Bird Island disturbed my afternoon nap.
