3000 population. Although we did not see much hurricane damage in Santa Cruz da Flores (where we are staying), the town of Lajes was hard hit and the ferry which goes to Corvo was destroyed along with 10 of 13 boats that were not removed from the water. Gasoline is being rationed.
Weather made a taxi day-tour of the island pointless and we postponed it to our third day.
We did manage to walk through a great lava trail and visit a fine whale museum devoted to the whaling history of the Azores.
