I am packed for three and one half months of travel - the contents of two duffels, approximately 12" x 12" x 24," will take me to South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Palau, Hawaii and back to New York.
I will post photos and comments as time and internet connections permit. At the moment I feel tired from all the preparations. I am encouraged by the fact I will be accompanied by a medical advisor, a travel consultant, a gourmet chef, a bodyguard and a girlfriend, all in the person of Emma.
The trip begins tomorrow morning, January 31, 2014 with a 14 hour flight to Johannesburg on South African Airways, with an immediate connection by small plane and car to four nights at a safari camp called "Notten's," located in the Sabi Sands section, in the Northeast of South Africa. We are scheduled to return to New York on May 12, 2014.
At some point, when I am rested, (if I am rested) I will recount the preparations which started in August and were extensive, including flights, hotels, clothing, equipment, vaccinations, luggage, pharmaceuticals and restaurant research.
Bon Voyage!
